The Department of State’s Business Services Division has been notified that some Rhode Island businesses have received solicitation emails and letters that appear to be official, cite Rhode Island General laws and seek payment in the amount of $125.
These solicitations have NOT been issued by the RI Department of State or by any other governmental agency. Business entities may use third parties (i.e. Attorneys and filing companies) to assist them with preparation of documents to be maintained by the business entity pursuant to state law but this is not required.
