Royal Charter received & noted in Proceedings of the General Assembly

General Court of Commissioners held at Newport.
Charter presented by Captain George Baxter. Court adjourned to 8:00 a.m. the following to give way for reading. Assembly called for reception. Benedict Arnold chosen moderator. Letter of John Clarke, colonies agent opened & read. Box containing charter & seal opened & read by Captain Baxter. Items returned to box and locked up by the Governor. Vote of thanks to King. Acknowledgement, vote of reimbursement & payment of 100 pound sterling to John Clarke in obtaining. Payment of 25 pounds sterling ordered for Captain George Baxter for bringing from Boston.
