State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
The undersigned having been appointed
by the freemen of said State, in the manner directed by the
Legislature thereof Electors of President and Vice President of the
United States, a certificate whereof by the Executive Authority
of said State is hereunto annexed and having met on the first
Wednesday in December in the year of our Lord One Thousand
eight hundred and sixty at Bristol in the county of Bristol,
in the State aforesaid, the place directed by the Legislature of
said State, by the Statute in such case made and provided
to vote for a President and Vice President of the United States,
respectively, agreeably to the Constitution and laws of the United
States, and having there and then voted by ballot for President
and Vice President of the United States, to commence their
respective terms of office on the fourth day of March, which
will be in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-one, and having named in our ballots the persons
voted for as President and in distinct ballots, the person
voted for as Vice President. We do hereby certify that the votes,
so then and there cast for President of the United States were as
stated in the following list, viz;
A list of all persons voted for as President and of the
number of votes for the same.
For Abraham Lincoln a citizen
of the State of Illinois, as President
of the United States
Four ballots votes
Which list we hereby certify to be true, and in testimony
thereof have hereunto subscribed our names at said Bristol
this fifth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and sixty.

And we do further certify that the votes so then and
there given for Vice President of the United States were as
stated in the following list viz;
“A list of all persons voted for as Vice President
and the number of votes for the same.”
For Hannibal Hamlin a citizen
of the State of Maine as Vice President
of the United States
Four ballot votes
Which list we hereby certify to be true and in testimony
thereof have hereunto subscribed our names at said
Bristol this fifth day of December in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.

And we further certify, that we have made three certificates
of the votes aforesaid, one of which certificates we have
directed to the President of the Senate of the United States
at Washington, to be delivered by the messenger, by us for that
purpose specially appointed, one directed to the said
President we have this day forwarded by the Post Office,
and one directed aforesaid, to be delivered to the
district Judge of the United States, for the district of Rhode Island.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names
at said Bristol this fifth day of December in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.
